The Program

In life, business and mountaineering, there will be storms. For climbers, mountain storms bring wind and snow. For most of us, a storm can bring economic difficulties, altered plans, or uncertainty.

After 28 years of climbing high peaks around the world, Jim Davidson has endured many storms, and he has distilled how to get through rough times and succeed, even when uncertainty looms.

Jim has just returned from climbing the sixth highest mountain in the world, Cho Oyu, at 26,906 feet. He will share photos, video, and stories of how hard-won experiences from other stormy peaks enabled him to reach his highest level yet.

In this exhilarating session, we will learn:

  1. How to stay motivated & engaged during stormy times

  2. Tips for propelling yourself into opportunities that sit just Beyond the Storm

The Speaker

Jim at Camp 3 (24,500 ft) preparing for the midnight summit push.

Jim Davidson is a mountain climber, a businessman, and an inspirational speaker from Colorado. Blending his twenty-six years of adventure with two decades of successful business experience, Jim distills hard-earned lessons that inspire organizations and professionals to strive for excellence and overcome adversity, no matter how big the challenge.

As a climber and expedition leader, Jim has been on seventeen high-altitude peaks in Alaska, Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador, Mexico and Nepal. His highest summit was Aconcagua at 22,840 feet. All together, Jim has spent about a year of his life sleeping in soggy tents!

As a keynote speaker, leadership development trainer, and teamwork facilitator, Jim Davidson has inspired:

  • corporations (Ameriprise Financial, Oppenheimer Funds, ConAgra, etc.)

  • Associations (Meeting Professionals International, Self Storage Assoc., etc.)

  • audiences at hundreds of events across the USA and internationally

Jim’s other business achievements include:

Jim is an expedition leader, ice climbing instructor, and endurance runner. He is trained in wilderness first aid, avalanche safety, and vertical rescue, which has been invaluable on the many occasions Jim volunteered to rescue other hikers and climbers. For his leadership and sacrifices on mountain rescues, the U.S. National Park Service has commended Jim and his partners twice for successful high-altitude rescues.

Jim is an inspirational speaker with Speaking of Adventure and lives in Colorado with his two adventurous children and very tolerant wife! Every spring, Jim volunteers to teach hundreds of elementary school children to climb.
